Hagen's Berry Farm was started in 1975 by Max and Carol Hagen in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We grew from two acres to over 50 acres and had three farms, (Cedar Falls, Palo and Cedar Rapids, Iowa)

We are charter members of the North American Strawberry Growers Association; we have been featured speakers at numerous fruit and vegetable growers meetings throughout the United States and Canada.

Our strawberry farm is now located in Palo, Iowa, 7 miles West of Cedar Rapids on Highway 94. We have 20 acres of strawberries. Pick your own hours are from 7:30am-7:pm seven days a week during harvest.

Fresh picked strawberries are available after 10:am until sold out. Prepaid orders for any quantity are taken at the field. Harvest usually starts the last week of May and ends about July 1st. Due to weather and heavy picking, availability of strawberries may be limited at certain times.

It is very important to call our Hotline Telephones for updates on picking conditions. These recorded messages are changed as needed. Numbers to call are 319 396 8573 or
319 851 2379. These numbers should be called towards the end of May to find out when the harvest will start.

We have a hard surface parking lot that will hold 200 cars. Six tons of straw has been applied to the field and grass is growing all around the field. No matter what the weather, you will always be on a clean parking lot and picking surface. We provide easy access in and out for those wanting to buy fresh picked strawberries.

We have worked with nurserymen, universities and plant breeders to bring you the best strawberries suitable for the Midwest.
